Jimi Hendrix festival 19/20 may 2012 in Bologna / Italy.
In the center of Bologna in a little park with playgrounds and a restaurant the first Bologna Jimi Hendrix meeting took place. It was a two days event with music, art, videos and bands from all over Italy.
Saturday the weather was dry and nice. At least 13 bands played outside on a beautiful stage with professional equipment and good sound.
The concerts went on until midnight and there were great musicians performing - Jimi's spirit was all over the place.
Marco, Roberto and I were the last band and we played a nonstop medley including "Gypsy blood","Machine gun", "Hear my train coming" and "Voodoo child (slight return) with extended improvisations.
At the bed & breakfast around 4 o'clock in the morning I felt the earthquake and woke up while the whole house was moving. Bologna was hit many times and a lot of damage was caused with hundreds of people losing their home and properties ... a few people even had been killed ...
Sunday the weather changed, everybody was talking about the earthquake of the previous night, but the festival was continued first on a small stage outside.
When the rain got worse it was decided to move inside the restaurant, where rare silent Hendrix footage was presented on a video screen during the concerts. Many bands played one after another.
The Jimi Hendrix meeting 2012 at Bologna was a huge success ! Jimi's music lives on within numerous bands.
